A New Puppy, a Nearly Finished Story, and a Lot to Be Thankful For

Saturday, I welcomed a new member to the family! Her name is Lyric, and she’s a purebred miniature dachshund who has already stolen my heart—and quite a bit of my writing time.

Between keeping her occupied and trying to get a few words on the page, finding time to write has been a challenge. Apparently, my new writing assistant prefers playtime over productivity!

Still, I’m happy to say I’m almost finished with Fallen: Babel, the fourth installment in my Books of the Fallen short story series. It will join Fallen, Eden, and Death in The Books of the Fallen collection, which is available for preorder now.

This story has taken a while to come together. It draws inspiration from things I’ve recently learned about the biblical Nimrod and the Epic of Gilgamesh, including the theory some people hold that the two were the same person.

That idea became the starting point for my fictional story. You’ll meet Adonis, a great hunter whose journey leads him to become Gilgamesh—and, ultimately, King Nimrod. It’s a transformation shaped by grief, ambition, and the dangerous lure of power.

The Books of the Fallen will also include journal entries from Donias, offering glimpses into biblical events I haven’t explored in separate stories, including Job’s trials and the story of Noah. These entries help fill in the gaps and connect the collection to the larger story unfolding throughout the series.

A new puppy and a story nearing completion—there’s plenty to be thankful for!

I can’t wait for you to read The Books of the Fallen in its entirety! You can preorder your Kindle copy using the link below. A hardcover edition is also planned, and I’m still deciding whether to offer a paperback edition.

Your Dream isn’t Dead

Don’t let discouragement kill your dream. I know what it feels like to lose momentum, question your abilities, and wonder whether you have completely failed. During those moments, I often ask myself:
